Duncan's London Marathon 2024 for Dover Choral Society
Duncan Ellerington
My Story
I believe passionately in the power of Choral music and I want the tradition to continue for future generations.
Dover has a long history of Choral music starting with Thomas Tallis who worked at Dover Priory from 1532.
A Choral Society in Dover has existed since 1846 and Dover Choral Society emerged from this tradition in 1947. Our current Musical Director is the brilliant Dr. Jon Williams.
I want to raise the money to secure extra funding. Dover Choral Society raises all its money by membership fees and Concert tickets and keeps to a very tight budget. This money would be vital in providing a working surplus. Expenditure is high when we perform works as the composer intended. I cannot describe how amazing it feels to sing wonderful Choral works from within a Choir. Just like the Marathon it requires many weeks of training before the big day.
The TCS London Marathon sees tens of thousands of people taking part in the world's biggest marathon.
I will also be running in the memory of Bob Powell-Williams, our Treasurer and Bass who died recently.
